Kwanzaa Placemat
This placemat made with the colors of Kwanzaa is perfect for
decorating a holiday table, or for us in a centerpiece or display.
What
You Will Need:
1. 3 rectangular sheets of 12-x9-inch construction paper one in red,
one in green, and one in yellow.
2. Ruler
3. Pencil
4. Scissors
5. Glue
6. Laminating paper
7. One 12x12 piece black cardstock
Directions:
1. Fold black cardstock in half.
2. Use ruler to mark along the fold every inch. Do the same on the
opposite edge. Then draw lines joining the opposite pencil marks.
3. Cut through folded paper along the pencil lines from the fold to
about 1 inch from the unfolded edges.
4. Unfold the sheet and set aside.
5. Cut lengths of other sheets into 1-inch-wide strips that are 12
inches long.
6. Weave strips through black paper. Using alternate colors, for
example red, green, yellow, repeat.
7. Secure ends of strips with glue.
8. Use the laminate to cover the paper placemat. This will give the
placemat longer use at the table and prevent it from being ruined if
anything is spilled.
